Curcuma Longa

Curcuma longa is an excellent remedy for lowering cholesterol levels in blood .Curcumin, also known as turmeric root, an ancient spice in the ginger family, is gaining attention for its positive impact on a number of diseases, including cholesterol reduction. Scientific evidence has been building since the mid-1980s of curcumin’s potential cholesterol-lowering capabilities.           For example, animals fed small doses of curcumin had their cholesterol levels drop by one half (50%) over those that did not receive curcumin. Curcumin reduces cholesterol by interfering with intestinal cholesterol uptake, increasing the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids, and increasing the excretion of bile acids, according to the International Journal of Vitamin Nutritional Research (1991, 61:364-69).           The 1992 Indian Journal of Physiology reported that ten human volunteers taking curcumin ...

Nosodes

A nosode is a preparation from the morbid tissue of a person suffering from the disease for which a remedy is required. Hahnemann himself was the first to use nosodes, and he introduced Medorrhinum, the nosode of gonorrhoea, Syphilinum the nosode of syphilis, and Psorinum, the nosode of psoriasis. Other nosodes were added to the list by various people as time went on, including Variollnum, the nosode of smallpox, Bacillinum the nosode of lung tuberculosis, Diphtherinum the nosode of diphtheria, Pertussin the nosode of whooping cough, Parotidinum the nosode of mumps, Morbillinum the nosode of measles, etc. They serve in several ways: 1. As a remedy used during the treatment of disease. i.e. the use of the Parvo nosode during the treatment of Parvo. Herring noted that he had never succeeded in curing, but only ameliorating diseases when he used nosodes. So, nosodes can be used during the treatment of acute diseases, in order to help other more similar remedies to complete the cure. 2. No...

Eupatorium Perfoliatum

When writing upon ARNICA, I there compared several remedies which have a sensation as if bruised. This remedy might also have been mentioned there, as it has "BRUISED FEELING AS IF BROKEN, ALL OVER THE BODY." (ARNICA, BELLIS, PYROGEN.) The bruised feeling of EUPATORIUM is accompanied with a DEEP HARD ACHING, as if in the BONES. - Dr. E. B. Nash Let us quote some of the symptoms illustrating:  "INTENSE ACHING IN THE LIMBS AND BACK AS IF THE BONES WERE BROKEN."  "ACHING IN THE BONES OF THE EXTREMITIES, WITH SORENESS OF THE FLESH; SORENESS OF THE BONES."  "SORENESS AND ACHING OF THE ARMS AND FOREARMS; PAINFUL SORENESS IN BOTH WRISTS AS IF BROKEN OR DISLOCATED."  "SORENESS AND ACHING OF LOWER LIMBS; STIFFNESS AND GENERAL SORENESS WHEN RISING TO WALK."  "CALVES OF THE LEGS FEEL AS IF THEY HAD BEEN BEATEN."  "ACHING PAINS AS IF IN THE BONES, WITH MOANING." These symptoms are all characteristic and may be found in influenza...

Amyl Nitrosum

In all conditions where the blood-vessels are spasmodically contracted, as in angina pectoris, epileptic seizure, megrim, accompanied by cold, pallor, etc., also in paroxysms of asthma, chloroform asphyxia, inhalation of the Amyl nitrosum will give immediate relief. For this non-homeopathic application, two to five minims (put up in pearls) dropped on a handkerchief and inhaled may be required.           On inhaling amyl nitrosum, it rapidly dilates all arterioles and capillaries, producing flushings of face, heat, and throbbing in the head. Superficial arterial hyperaemia. Palpitation of the heart and similar conditions are readily cured by it, especially the flushings and other discomforts at climacteric.         Often relieves temporarily epileptic convulsions. Amyl nitrosum has quite a reputation for arresting paroxysms of epilepsy and resuscitating patients sinking under anaesthetics...

Senna in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Senna is an FDA-approved over-the-counter (OTC) laxative. A prescription is not required to purchase senna. It is used to treat constipation and also to clear the bowel before diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy.           Senna is also used for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anal or rectal surgery, tears in the lining of the anus (anal fissures), hemorrhoids, and weight loss.           Senna fruit seems to be gentler than senna leaf. This has led the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) to warn against long-term use of senna leaf, but not senna fruit. The AHPA recommends that senna leaf products be labeled, "Do not use this product if you have abdominal pain or diarrhea. Consult a healthcare provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Do not exceed recommended dose. Not for long-term use." How does it work ? ...

A Review on Epidemic Success of Homeopathy

Introduction An epidemic is the rapid spread of disease to a large number of people in a given population within a short period of time. In aphorism 73 Dr. Hahnemann says, “Allied to these are those diseases in which many persons are attacked with very similar sufferings from the same cause (epidemically); these diseases generally become infectious (contagious) when they prevail among thickly congregated masses of human beings. Thence arise fevers, in each instance of a peculiar nature, and, because the cases of disease have an identical origin, they set up in all those they affect an identical morbid process, which when left to itself terminates in a moderate period of time in death or recovery. The calamities of war, inundations and famine are not infrequently their exciting causes and producers – sometimes they are peculiar acute miasms which recur in the same manner (hence known by some traditional name), which either attack persons but once in a lifetime, as the smallpox, measl...
